G.M. Aquatics sells tropical and exotic tropical fish, including both captive-bred and wild tropical fish, with a particular focus on freshwater catfish. Their live fish categories include Catfish, Cichlids, Corydoras, Labyrinth fish, Other Fish, Plecos, Rainbow Fish, and Tetras.
We sell a wide range of tropical fish, including some species that are suitable for beginners and others that are better suited to experienced aquarists. Suitability depends on the fish’s size, temperament, water requirements, and your tank setup, so we’re always happy to advise before you buy.
G.M. Aquatics’ range includes captive-bred and wild tropical fish, with categories such as Catfish, Cichlids, Corydoras, Labyrinth fish, Plecos, Rainbow Fish, and Tetras.
We mainly specialise in freshwater tropical fish, including captive-bred and wild species, with a particular focus on freshwater catfish. We do not currently list saltwater marine fish as part of our live fish range.
The safest decorations depend on the fish you keep. In general, aquarium-safe rocks, wood, caves, plants, and ornaments are suitable as long as they have no sharp edges, toxic paint, or materials that can affect your water chemistry.
For bottom-dwelling fish such as Corydoras, Plecos, and Catfish, choose smooth decorations and soft substrate to protect their barbels and bodies. For Cichlids, caves, rocks, and hiding places are useful, but they should be stable and secure. For shy community fish such as Tetras, Rainbow Fish, and Labyrinth fish, plants and sheltered areas help them feel safe.
If you’re unsure, tell us what fish you keep and your tank setup, and we’ll advise which decorations are best.
The best filtration system depends on your tank size, stocking level, and the type of fish you keep. In general, we recommend choosing a filter that provides good mechanical and biological filtration and is rated for your aquarium size or slightly above.
For smaller community tanks, an internal filter or sponge filter can work well. For larger aquariums, heavily stocked tanks, Plecos, Catfish, or Cichlids, an external canister filter is usually a better choice because it offers stronger filtration and more media capacity.
Good water flow, regular maintenance, and mature filter media are just as important as the filter itself. If you tell us your tank size and fish species, we can recommend a suitable option.
For livestock, we cannot accept returns or exchanges simply because you change your mind. Fish are guaranteed for live arrival only. If there is a problem on arrival, please contact us within the required time frame and send photos of the fish still sealed in the original G.M. Aquatics bag, so we can advise and help resolve the issue. Delivery and packing costs are non-refundable.
We offer UK delivery for live fish using DX. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to ship live fish to the EU due to regulations and certificates around live fish transport. However, we may be able to ship to other countries outside the UK and EU, please contact us first so we can discuss shipping costs, times, and requirements.
Yes, we’re happy to help with ongoing aquarium care. We can advise on fish compatibility, feeding, tank setup, water conditions, filtration, and general fish health. Our website highlights “expert advice” as part of our service, and you can contact us by phone, message, or email if you need help with your aquarium.
Once your order has been placed and paid for, we’ll contact you as soon as possible to arrange a suitable delivery date. Livestock deliveries are weekday-only, as DX does not offer weekend livestock delivery. On the agreed delivery day, livestock parcels are usually delivered between 9am and 12pm.
If your fish arrive stressed or unwell, please contact us straight away. If a fish appears unwell or is struggling on arrival, we must be notified within 4 hours of delivery, with pictures of the fish still sealed in the original G.M. Aquatics bag, so we can give advice as quickly as possible.
If a fish has arrived dead, please contact us within 2 hours of delivery and do not dispose of the fish until we advise you. Please send clear photos/video of the fish in the unopened sealed bag.
Some stress after overnight transit can be normal, so keep the lights low, avoid sudden temperature changes, and ask us for species-specific acclimation advice before releasing the fish.
Aquarium-Fish Ltd are proud retailers of tropical and exotic tropical fish.
